HOW TO: MADISON Quick and easy album assembly! by Mark Witney
Spicer Hallfield's Madison album uses a unique repositionable self adhesive to offer an attractive and effective album that is very quick and easy to assemble, allowing photographers to liberate their time whilst still being able present their images in a professional manner.
Now available
in 8"x8", 10"x10" and 12"x12" size formats, in both black and white, and with 10, 15, 20 and 25 page options, the style and benefits of the Madison album continue to appeal to many photographers and their clients.
Putting the albums together couldn't be easier:
Inserting Page Prints
1
As a full page self-adhesive album, each page features a full page print (8"x8", 10"x10" or 12"x12", depending on the size of the album). Each print can either be a single image, or a digitally designed layout of many images.
Software packages such as Spicer Hallfield's 'Montage', and other packages such as 'PhotoJunction', 'You Select It' and 'DG Foto Art', provide an easy method of creating digitally designed layouts.
2
With the full page prints ready to be inserted in to the album, peal back the top left hand corner of the page's protective material to reveal a corner of self-adhesive. (Fig. 1)

3
Place the print down on to the page, lining it up parallel and equidistant from each edge, and once in position, press down in the top left corner of the page to secure the print to the exposed self-adhesive.
4
With the print part secured to the page, place your left hand on top of the print in the top left hand corner of the page, and use your right hand to grasp the folded corner of the protective material that is underneath the print.
Then pull the protective material out from underneath the print, moving your left hand on top of the print to secure the print to the page, ensuring any air bubbles are smoothed out from underneath the print.
(Fig. 2)
However, the beauty of the unique repositionable self-adhesive means that even if the print is not lined up correctly, you can peal off the print and re-apply it as many times as required, without any damage to the print or page!

Inserting Cover Image
1
The cover image adds a personal touch to the album cover. To produce a print to use as the cover image, use the following sizes:
8"x8" Album - 70mmx70mm
10"x10" Album - 70mmx70mm
12"x12" Album - 86mmx86mm
As these sizes are not standard print sizes, simply create the correctly sized image, drag it on to a 6"x4" canvas in Photoshop and print as a 6"x4" print, ready for cropping and inserting in to the album cover aperture.
2
To insert the cover image, place the album down on a steady surface and slide the right hand corners of the image in to the cover aperture. (Fig. 3)
Fig. 3
3
Continue to slide the image in to the aperture so that the top left hand edge of the image fits inside the aperture. (Fig. 4)
Fig. 4
4
Further continue to slide the image in to the aperture, manouvering the image so that all four corners of the image fit inside the aperture. (Fig. 5)

Once the image is inside the aperture, it can be positioned in place. However, to prevent the image moving, it is recommended to put a small piece of double sided adhesive tape underneath the image, to secure the image in place.
To do this, simply slide the image to one side of the aperture, apply the tape, move the image back in to place and press down to secure the image against the tape. (Fig. 6)
The cover image is now securely positioned and the album is complete! (Fig. 7)

CHOOSE PHOTO:

STICK PHOTO:
once you’ve removed the protective cloth which covers the page, place your print onto the adhesive surface.
MOVE PHOTO:
if you are not happy with the placement, just peel off the print and reposition it. Or if you prefer, you can use another print entirely. And you can repeat this process on every single page, as often as you like, with no damage to your print or your album.
